A Bit about our Museum

The Sheridan County Museum

The Sheridan County Museum

In early 2002, the Sheridan County Historical Society began a project to improve the care of its artifact collections. The SCHS maintained an exhibit in the basement of the historic Sheridan Inn since 1991. In 2004, the Sheridan County Museum began in a small building on Alger Avenue in Sheridan, but quickly outgrew the facility. The following year, the Society received an offer it couldn’t refuse and purchased the former Bubba’s Restaurant. In about 13 months during 2005 and 2006, with tremendous community support, over 1.5 million dollars was raised to purchase and remodel the building into a proper museum. The SCHS opened the doors of the new Sheridan County Museum to the public on July 1, 2006.
